Accutane Day 12: Joint Pain Fun
So I was doing a lab in physics today and I was leaning on my right leg. but when I tried to stand up straight, my hip was so stiff and painful and I couldn't even move my leg for a good 5 minutes. Sounds like fun huh? The good news is that I'm starting to see a little bit of clarity in my skin! I think my initial breakout is subsiding a bit, but it's still pretty early to tell.

Accutane Day 10: 1 Box Down
Woohoo!! I got my first box out of three down! And btw does anybody else think that the whole don't get pregnant thing is just a bit excessive in the box? Oh well. Ok so far not seeing any clarity in my skin (but that's expected at this point) and the dryness isn't horrible, but definately noticible. I'm dealing with it well with the help of CeraVe, Vaseline, and jojoba oil. I should start clearing up after my first round of 30 pills so I guess I'm 1/3 of the way there!
Accutane Day 8: Blackheads Everywhere!!
As you can see by this picture, blackheads and giant pores have kind of taken over my nose. Now I'm one of those people that kind of always has blackheads all over the side of my nose, but now it's spreading all over my nose and even onto my cheeks. Oh well, it's all good because it'll clear up in a month or so and I'll be ok :)

Accutane Day 7: 1 Week Update
Alrighty! So it's been a week since I started 40 mg Accutane (ok it's really claravis but it's the same thing) and so far I have no improvement in my skin because you know it's only been a week. However everything is dry!! My hair, my skin, and of course my lips. I even got these little dry flakey patches on the corner of my mouth, you can see it on the picture below which also features a lovely zit that apperes yesterday.

Accutane Day 4: The Dryness Begins
Tuesday, January 21, 2014
So life kinda hates me
I got braces.. Again. This would be the 4th time. But it's all good because 1. They're clear(ish) and 2. I kinda need them in order to get jaw surgery. This jaw surgery is the life changing event that I referred to in my first post. But anyways, this will fix my jaw, breathing, and aesthetic issues. I'll go more in detail on this later as the surgery date (early June) approaches. So for now, I'll focus on the Accutane adventure.

Accutane Day 1: The Beginning
Alright, so today marks my first day of Accutane, and of course I feel as if I should give you some background info. I've been breaking out ever since I was 12 really and of course my skin has had its ups and downs throughout the years, but no matter what I tried, it never went away! Every OTC product, higher end stuff (Proactive, Murad, Clinique), and even 2 prescription medicines. And now my dermatologist and I are at the end of our ropes and decided it was time for the biggie. Accutane. Now I've been offered Accutane 2 years ago whenever one of my breakouts lead to a staph infection, but I denied the offer because I was scared of all those horrific stories that everyone heard. But I guess I've decided to grow a pair and try this stuff. Down below you'll see pictures of my left and right side of my face where my acne is at it's worse. Even with the unforgiving flash, most of the smaller blemishes like the whiteheads and blackheads don't show up in the picture. And you know, I had to add a selfie to this collection, just for good measure. ;) so I guess that's it for now, I'll try to blog this whenever I notice a change in my face or in my body in general, but until then, see you guys later.

Welcome!
You are now reading my first official entry for this thing. I'm not sure what I want to do with this exactly except share my life with anybody who's interested. I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself so here goes: My name is Kayla Rose Thrasher. I'm a junior in high school which makes me 16 years old and I'm really craving sugar cookie dough right now. 2014 is going to be a year of change for me, I'm starting with a lovely 4 month journey of Accutane starting in 3 days. In June, I will be undergoing a surgery that could sorta potentially change my life (details on this later.) And of course, I will be starting my senior year in the fall, which apparently is a big deal. So I guess that's it for now, thanks for reading this and now I'm gonna go get that cookie dough. ;)
